Log Cabin

The Log Cabin is a scary story written by a member of this website named scarykid1413. It’s about a cabin in the woods that is said to be cursed. According to the legend, anyone who sets foot inside is doomed to die within three days.

Log Cabin

Dominique and her two friends, Taylor and Lilly, came to a stop at the small log cabin at the end of the dirt road. They eyed each other nervously.

“You girls ready?” Dominique asked.

Taylor and Lilly nodded but didn’t answer. They had all decided to explore the old cabin, but it had a bad history.

No one knows how or when, but this cabin was referred to as the cursed cabin. This was because everybody who stepped foot inside the house was believed to be automatically cursed. EVERYBODY who ever went in the house had died within a three day period. They died of strange causes: car crashes, animal attacks, drownings, lightning strikes, murders etc. Over seventy people had gone inside the cabin in the past ten years and all of them had died a few days later. That’s why no one ever went near it. It had lain abandoned and untouched for the past two years. Until now.

Dominique was the type of girl who loved proving people wrong. She wanted to prove to everyone that the cursed log cabin was just a stupid urban legend. She had to literally beg on her knees to make her friends come with her. So here they all were, at noon, standing in a deserted part of the woods outside their home town.

They walked up to the front door of the cabin. Their hearts were pounding roughly in their chests. Dominique tried the knob and the door slowly creaked open.

“Oh God, I think I’ve changed my mind,” Taylor said.

Dominique grabbed her arm to stop her leaving. “No, please. I swear we’ll step in for about ten secs, then leave,” she promised.

Taylor calmed her nerves and agreed. They all walked in the house. It was completely pitch black inside which was really creepy. They stood in the front room and peered into the darkness.

“OK. It’s been ten seconds,” said Taylor. “We’ve stayed long enough. Let’s go.”

“Hold on a few more minutes,” Dominique said.

All of a sudden, the three girls heard footsteps. They seemed to be coming from nowhere.

“Is that your footsteps, Dominique?” Lilly asked.

“N-no,” Dominique replied.

The footsteps grew louder and seemed to be getting closer.

STOMP! STOMP! THUMP! THUMP!

“That’s it. I’m out!” Taylor cried.

This time Dominique agreed. She was officially freaked out. Her and Lilly were already out of the cabin by the time she started running. She ran out without closing the cabin door behind her. The girls ran and ran until they got back to their car. They were breathing hard.

“That was scary,” Taylor said.

Dominique laughed. “Seriously? Scary? All we heard was footsteps. That could’ve been anybody.”

“Well I’m just glad we’re out,” said Lilly. “That wasn’t as bad as I thought. I’ve seen boogers scarier than that! But I hope tomorrow, we’ll still be alive…”

“And the day after that,” Dominique said. “And the day after that…”

The three girls hung out at Dominique’s place until about nine o’clock that night. Then, they all went home. The next day, Dominique didn’t wake up util eleven. She felt great. She went downstairs and saw her mom making breakfast. Then suddenly, the phone rang.

“I got it,” she sang.

She didn’t know why she was in such a good mood. She answered the phone.
“Hello?” she greeted.

“Uh, hey Dominique,” the voice on the other end said. She knew it was Taylor, but it sounded all cracked and hoarse as if she’d been crying.
“Taylor? What’s wrong?” she asked.

“It’s about Lilly. She- she died,” Taylor said, as if she had a hard time speaking.

Dominique’s head started spinning. She was in sudden shock.

“Dead? What do you mean dead?” she asked.

Taylor burst into tears. “She’s dead. Her mom said she went into her room at about three o’clock this morning to the sound of her screams. When she went in, she saw her Lilly in her bed, coughing up blood. A lot of blood. By the time she called police, Lilly had already stopped moving and looked dead,” Taylor explained through tears.

“Oh my God,” Dominique said.

After a long silence, Taylor said, “Do you think it could’ve been the cabin? Do you think it’s really cursed?”

“No! It’s not cursed! Stop saying that!” said Dominique, trying to calm herself down, “Listen, I’ll be over your house in a few minutes so we can talk.”

She hung up the phone. Dominique didn’t bother changing outta her pajamas. She just put on some shoes and walked out of the house without telling her mom. She jogged to Taylor’s house. When she got there, the door was already unlocked. She went inside.

“Taylor, I’m here! Come downstairs!” Dominique yelled from the bottom of the stairs.

“Coming!” Taylor called back, her voice still sounding hoarse.

Taylor left her room and smiled when she saw Dominique waiting at the bottom of the staircase.

“I’m so glad you’re here,” Taylor said, and began jogging down the stairs. But somehow Taylor lost her balance when she stepped on the third step. Dominique watched in horror as her friend came tumbling down the stairs.
When she hit the bottom, Dominique ran to her side. She knelt down beside her friend and saw that Taylor’s neck was twisted at an odd angle. It was broken. She knew Taylor was dead.

“Noooooo!” Dominique cried. She knew she was next.

In a panic, Dominique leaped up from her friends dead body and ran out of the house. Dominique didn’t know where she’d run, but she knew she’d never stop running. She ran into the road and kept going. Too bad she never made it across. An oncoming car that was at 70 mph barreled over her, which sent her flying to the pavement. She died within seconds.
