Monsters Under Your Bed is a scary poem about monsters. Just remember, monsters don’t sleep under your bed, they sleep inside your head.
I am the one hiding under your bed,
Teeth ground sharp and eyes glowing red.
I am the one hiding under your stairs,
Fingers like snakes and spiders in my hair.
I am the clown with the tear-away face
Here in a flash and gone without a trace.
I am the “who” when you call, “Who´s there?”
I am the wind blowing through your hair.
I am the shadow on the moon at night,
Filling your dreams to the brim with fright.
Now that I lay my head down to sleep,
I am begging the Lord my soul to keep.
Promise me you’ll wake me before I’m dead,
Don’t leave me with the monsters in my head.
an0ther1,
Oh yeah I didn’t even notice!!!!! Even though I’ve seen to movie a lot. (My friend when we were little was obsessed… don’t ask. But mine was “Coraline”. Wonderful film. XD) I knew the Child’s prayer one, though. I’ve heard it, “Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. And should I die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take.” I read it in “Little House on the Prairie”. Also, I think the last stanza is from a quote… Stephen King. “Monsters are real. Ghosts are real, too. They live onside us, and sometimes, they win.” There was another quote I saw online… it was “Monsters don’t live under your bed, they sleep inside your head.” That could’ve contributed to the line, too.

Literally everything but the last two stanzas are lyrics from the song, “This is Halloween” in the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas. The second to last stanza was based off of a Child’s prayer. The last one I think is original, but I don’t know.
