All in the Family

All in the Family is a scary horror comic about a married couple who get stranded in the swamp. It appeared in House of Mystery #204 (1972) and was drawn by Bernie Wrightson.

One night, a married couple named Fred and Mary are out for a drive when their car swerves off the road and they find themselves stranded in a swamp.

They wander for over an hour, looking for help and eventually come across an old, dark house in the middle of the swamp. Mary thinks the house looks familiar. It is the same house she saw in her nightmare, the night before.

In her nightmare, she was lost and wandering around a swamp when she came to the old house. When she knocked on the door, it was answered by a creepy old man and a strange old woman who looked like they came from a horror movie.

The weird couple invited her inside, but then she heard a strange gugling sound behind her. There was a terrible stench in the air and she saw something come crawling towards her from the darkness… a hideous blob with eyes and tentacles. Then, she woke up screaming.

Fred tells her not to worry and when they knock on the door, it is answered by a beautiful young woman named Gloria. She invites them in and tells them she wil do what she can to help them.

Just then, Mary hears a gurgling sound behind her and when she twirls around, she sees a hideous blob crawling towards her… the same hideous blob from her nightmare.

As the blob drags Mary into the darkness and devours her, Fred and Gloria don’t lift a finger to help. Fred reveals that he is having an affair with Gloria and this is all part of their plan. He lured Mary to the house so they could get rid of her and he and Gloria can be together.

Fred goes back to the car and sinks it deep in the swamp so no one will ever find it.

When he gets back to the house, he finds the creepy old man and the strange old woman there. They tell him they are Gloria’s parents and the hideous blob is Gloria’s brother. When he asks where Gloria is, they tell him she is “changing into something more comfortable…”
