All is Vanity is a scary optical illusion painted by Charles Allan Gilbert. The painting depicts a young woman gazing at her reflection in a mirror. Upon closer examination, it reveals itself to be a large grinning skull. The eyes are formed by the lady’s head and the teeth are formed by bottles of perfume sitting on the vanity table.
The painting was recreated by the rock group Def Leppard for the cover of their album, Retro Active.
It was also copied in an advertisement for Dior’s Poison perfume.
