The Candyman is an urban legend that tells the scary story of a murdered slave who returns from the dead in search of revenge if you say his name five times. According to the legend, if you look into a mirror and chant the name “Candyman” five times, he will appear behind you and kill you with his hook. For you see, the Candyman is a vicious killer with a bloody hook for a hand. He appears from the mirror, covered in blood and bees and he has nothing but murder on his mind.
They say that many years ago, the Candyman was a real man. Back in the days of slavery, Candyman was a black slave named Daniel Robitaille, who worked on a plantation in New Orleans. He was a talented painter and was chosen by the plantation owner to paint a portrait of his daughter.
But Daniel fell in love with the daughter of the white plantation owner. When the racist plantation owner discovered that his daughter and the slave were in love, he raised an angry mob and chased Daniel out of town.
Armed with pitchforks and a pack of dogs, they chased the poor slave across fields and streams. Finally, they caught up with the exhausted slave near an old barn. The evil men siezed Daniel and cut off his right hand with a rusty saw. Then they covered him in honey and threw him into a beehive.
The unfortunate Candyman was in terrible pain and died from his injuries, but not before he cursed the men who killed him and vowed to return and exact his revenge. They say his spirit would never rest and now his ghost walks the world for all eternity, appearing when his name is called five times.
So remember, you can say “Candyman” once, twice, three times or four. But never say it five times or you’ll be sorry!

Well, maybe it was 5 men who killed him, 5 men out of the mob. And they say mirrors are like channels into the spirit world, so calling his name 5 times would summon the spirit and he may come though the mirror. And about the ‘into a beehive’ thing, its just how they worded it. Like they mean they threw him at the beehive and he caused it to collapse and fall, literally, into the beehive. Hope I helped you out a bit :D

i think you got it wwrong pinkKaygana. they didnt throw him inside the beehive they threw him a the beehive which prob made him hit his head and get knocked out and it made the bees angry so they attacked him cuz of anger and the honey he was covered in. ya and i dont understand why tht has to do with a mirror same with bloody mary thts just so stupid!!!! but its an urban legend i think they were just trying to scare us into never using a mirror again. nut mirrors r also some wht paranormal, idk how but they probably r >.<

They can show only the truth, so it is a very bad omen indeed to see something in a mirror which should not be there.
And a man made “bee hive” can have anywhere from 40,000 to 50,000 bees in it.
A “bees nest” can have 1000 to 5000 bees in it.

you know, sometimes i dont get why people just put random stuff that have nothing to do with the story and they say if u do it u will die. like, for example, saying candyman five times. why FIVE!?! the number 5 has nothing to do with the story!!! what, don’t tell me that there were 5 bees in the beehive or something!! and why the mirror?! why do u look into a mirror!?! why not into a beehive!?! oh, and, um, this is something different im about to say, but, beehives are small and bees make them on trees, so how can you throw someone into a beehive?!?! there are certain things i don’t get. someone plz explain them to me??

always new the story like this, well something along these lines…Candyman was once a slave. He was called candyman to everyone, as no one knew his real name. He had a terrible owner who would whip him with a rusty old bicycle chain, he soon died at the age of 17. Now candy man is searching for revenge, trying to kill the whole family of which kkilled him. He knows who to kill. You just say this as you look into your mirror “Candy man i’m ready, Candyman i’m here, Candyman come and get me.”…A friend was telling this ghost story at a sleepover. The next night a girl went home and said this as she looked in her mirror “Candy man i’m ready, Candyman i’m here, Candyman come and get me.”. She walked away laughing saying to herself “haa, nothing happened!” That night she was trying to get asleep when she heard the sound of a rusty bike riding outside her home. Her window flung open, a large scary creature with scars all over him was whipping a rusty bike chain in his hand. he whipped the girl once across the heart and she never woke up… i told this story to my friend, and i am not joking, she took her mirror out of her room for 6 months!!!!
I would leave the Candyman alone for all eternity!

This story is 100% fiction. Candyman was a short story by horror author Clive Barker the movie of the same title was based on his story. Candyman was invented by Clive Barker in a book. He’s not real its just a story by a really great author.

The reason that he is called candyman is because a child tasted the fresh honey that was poured on him and called out candyman before he died.

people, his name should be feared because hes real for reasons ive listed above, and not for nothing but comments like “who would be afraid of a guy with the word candy in his name” the only reason candy is in his name is because of the simple fact that he was covered in honey and thrown into a beehive…. and honey is a sweet syrup pretty much like candy so thats where the candy part comes from
