Hilltop House is a Halloween poem about a haunted house on a hill. It is based on a poem by Jack Prelutzky.
There’s a house upon the hilltop
we dare not go inside,
For that is where the evil lives,
Where ghosts and ghouls do hide.
Tonight the doors are open,
All the lights are burning bright,
But we will not go inside
The hilltop house tonight.
The demons they are screeching
and the ghosts they swirl about.
Tonight’s the night of Halloween.
“Come join us,” they all shout.
But don’t you dare to go there,
Turn tail and run in fright
For they’ll try to drag you inside
The hilltop house tonight!
