How to Get Away With Murder is a creeoy riddle about a man who is planning to kill his wife. It is one of the “cryptic Japanese horror stories” that are “scary when you understand the meaning”. You have to think about the story and try to figure out what is really going on.
I have decided to kill my wife. We’ve been together a long time, but I can’t stand her anymore. We started dating in high school and our relationship was always stormy, but ever since we got married, it has gone from bad to worse.
We fight all the time. Last week, it got particularly violent. She left some scratches on my cheek. That was the last straw. I decided then and there that I would have to kill her.
The only problem is how to get away with murder. These days, the police are very smart and thorough. When you’re planning to kill someone, you be very careful. If you don’t dispose of the evidence properly, they’re sure to catch you.
I had to come up with a foolproof plan.
Yesterday, I decided to visit my old friend Kenzo. He’s a successful author and he has published a number of best-selling murder mystery novels. We went to school together. In those days, Kenzo was a real nerd and he was always the victim of bullying. Well, I was the one who bullied him mainly, but he didn’t hold a grudge.
When I showed up at his house, Kenzo greeted me with a smile. We sat at his kitchen table, drinking coffee and chatting about his novels.
“How do you come up with your plots?” I asked.
“Well, right now, I’m working on a short story about a man who kills his wife,” Kenzo replied. “I’m thinking of calling it The Perfect Crime.”
“Interesting,” I said. “I’d like to hear about it.”
“It starts off with the man stabbing his wife to death at his house,” he told me. “After that, he calls the police and informs them that when he came home from work, he found his wife lying dead on the floor.”
“But if he kills her at his house and then reports it to the police, surely he’ll get caught,” I said.
“That’s where you’re wrong,” Kenzo replied with a sly smile. “The police know that murderers aren’t stupid. The first thing they would expect a murderer to do is flee the scene of the crime. By being the first person to discover the body and staying around to call the police, the man is actually diverting suspicion away from himself.”
“Hmmmm… it makes sense,” I said. “Is there anything else the man needs to do if he aims to commit the perfect crime?”
“The weapon he uses is a kitchen knife,” said Kenzo. “He buys the knife in a supermarket in his neighborhood and he makes sure he can be seen buying it on the security camera. If he hid his face, it would look suspicious, but if he’s casual about buying the knife, it looks like he’s got nothing to hide.”
“I see,” I said. “Very clever. Anything else?”
“After the murder, the man leaves his fingerprints on the knife. After all, it’s a knife from his home, so the police would expect to find his fingerprints on it. It would be suspicious if his fingerprints weren’t on the knife.”
“You make a good point,” I said. “I never would have thought of that.”
I’m glad I went to see Kenzo. Listening to him speak, I managed to pick up a lot of valuable information. I decided to use that plan to kill my wife.
As I was leaving, I shook Kenzo’s hand and said, “Thank you. Talking with you made me feel much better.”
Kenzo smiled. “It was nothing,” he said. “All I did was tell you the plot of my detective story.”
wouldn’t kenzo tell the police that that guy killed his wife
Helped me and my friends thanks
Oh I think I get it. So Kenzo knows that the man plans to kill his wife and he gives him the perfect plan to do it. But it’s just how he’s going to report hi to the police. Is that correct?
Sfk what the answer?
Hahaha he’s about to treat him well for bullying him I liked the story/riddle.
I think the title isnt for the main character for Kenzo. As Kenzo is killing his friends wife through the main character. Not only does the main get caught but Kenzo gets away with it and makes money off of it. Like a puppet master. Thats just my theory
nice plot twist
I think Kenzo is gonna turn him in, if everything goes along with the plot he told him…
Maybe kenzo wanted to “test” his story…if it works or not making the guy the guinea pig ..unintentionally or not…
Well,I think Kenzo suspected his friend was trying to murder his wife, so he thought,”Why not get revenge on someone who claimed to be my friend but bullied me?” So he ended up telling his friend ways to get CAUGHT by the police!
Not sure, but my theory is that Kenzo knows about the man’s plan to kill his wife and his last line was a hint that he was going to turn him in to the police once he did it.
7 out of 10 murder novels!
When the man will kill his wife…kenzo will somehow know that it was his plot….
Or as it is a detective story…he will get caught in the end.
SFK what’s the answer ?
That man is stupid if he goes for it…kenzo is obviously setting him up. A lot of that stuff was so obviously wrong. Geez that man would be a moron if he does it.
Theories…
1. Kenzo is still holding a grudge, since it’s a “Detective story” The ending would be that the man gets arrested
2. Kenzo killed his wife the same way
3. I’m too stupid to find the real answer
Different sides of same thing, choose whatever and wait for luck.
Wow…clever plan 😆
I agree, Kenzo must still hold a grudge against him for his bullying and must have planned to rat him out to the police with his “perfect crime”.
He’s writing a detective story so the detective will find out in the end so he’ll get caught.
Am i right?
