Scary Phone Numbers

666-666-6666 or 1-666-666-6666

For years, people all over the world have been receiving creepy messages from the phone numbers 666-666-6666 or 1-666-666-6666. Some people believe these phone calls come from the devil. In many cases, the calls do not show up on the phone bill.

“We were in a car going home one night when our friend received a call on his cell phone from (666) 666-6666. He never picked up the phone and we even joked about how the devil was calling him from hell. Several minutes later he received a voice mail. Now this was the oddest voice mail I have ever heard. It sounded like a hollow voice and there was a lot static in the background. We were only able to determine a couple of words, but it scared the **shizzle** out of us. And for some reason the message was erased several hours later, and there was no sign of it on his bill.”

999-9999

According to an urban legend in Thailand, 999-9999 is a cursed number. If you call it and make a wish, your wish will be granted. However, you will die soon afterwards in a freak accident.

Red Numbers

In Pakistan, people were warning each other not to pick up calls from numbers that appeared on the screen in red. They claimed these were “Cursed Phone Numbers” or “Death Calls”. Apparently, if you answered the call, you would hear a high frequency signal that would cause you to have a brain hemorrhage, killing you instantly. There were reports that dozens of people had already been killed by answering calls from these sinister numbers.

090-4444-4444

In Japan, the number 090-4444-4444 was known as “Sadako’s Number”. If you call the number, you are supposed to be able to hear some strange, creepy noise. They say that anyone who calls the number will die within a week in some type of accident. In Japan, the number 4 (shi) sounds like the word for “death” (shi). Sadako was the ghost from The Ring movies, so it is possible this number was set up to promote the movies.

0888 888 888

In Bulgaria, the phone number 0888 888 888 is believed to be cursed. They say that anyone who has a mobile phone with this number will die a horrible death. The first man who owned the number died of an aggressive form of cancer. The second man was shot to death in the street. When the third owner of the number was also shot to death in the street, nobody else wanted anything to do with the number and the mobile phone company (Mobitel) had to suspend it. From that point on, any attempt to call the number resulted in a prerecorded message which simply stated “outside network coverage.”

1-000-000-0000

In some Asian countries, people claimed that the phone number 1-000-000-0000 was cursed. If you called it, you would hear a male voice telling you that if you did not call 15 or more people and tell them about the cursed number, you would die.

666

In the USA, there is an urban legend about the phone number 666. They say that if you call it, you will contact the devil.

“All of my friends claim to have tried it with varying results… some say nothing happened, some say they heard eerie music, others say they heard satanic noises.”

1 (207) 404-2604

This number was set up to promote the horror movie Carrie. At the end of the trailer for the movie, it said “Call Carrie” and the number was displayed. When you call the number, a different number calls you back three times with creepy messages. The first is horrified screaming, the second is spooky singing and the third is scary whispering.

Dialing the Dead

I read this in a book of true ghost stories. People who were children in the 1970s claimed that in the UK, there was a mysterious number that could be dialed for free in a payphone. When the call was picked up, you would hear a woman’s voice saying, over and over, “Help Me, Help Me, Susie’s Dying.”

“Back in 1975 when I was 9 years old, some of the kids I hung around with insisted we all pile into the nearest phone box to hear a spooky message. I think the number you dialed was made up of 0s, 1s and 2s and you didn’t need to insert any money. You could hear a woman speaking in a curiously monotone voice, saying “Help me, help me, Susie’s dying!” over and over. Sometimes she said “Help me, help me, Susie’s drowning!” always in the same monotonous voice.”

“I can remember cramming into a phone box with various other kids to hear the strange “Susie’s dying” message. I cannot remember the number dialed.”

“I remember the mysterious messages and the scary voice when I was a child and we were playing with the old red phone boxes. As I remember, you put a coin in the slot and dialed 20 20 20 20 and the voice on the other end would be crackly but audible, saying, “Help me, Susie’s dying”, which would send us kids running in all directions.”

“I have a vivid memory of the strange phone message. I was with three other girls from school and we were messing around in a phone box, calling random numbers. One of the girls said she knew a number you could call to hear a “spooky message”. I think there were 3s and 2s in it. When she called this number we all heard the “Susie’s dying” message. Needless to say, we were all freaked out by this.”

  • All the numbers are from an other country so I have to get a card to call these numbers I want to try them out !!!!!!

  • @TheDarkArchangel

Where I’m from if the call doesn’t go through it just goes into dial tone (I don’t know what you call it) so basically anyone on the home line can pick up- and yes sometimes my mom does tend to transform into satan.

  • @DollaBills

I’m kinda confused. If you called the number 666 how could your mom answer? Is your mom satan?

  • Once, back in grade six, I tried calling the 666 number, and someone actually picked up and they said “Stop dialing random numbers”
I was terrified for weeks- thought the devil was going to get me- turns out it was only my mom. ._.

  • @xXHERRAARRXx Didn’t you read it properly? It said that some people say nothing happened while some can actually hear something? So, stop influencing others like “Hey! This one doesn’t work!”. Will you take the responsibility if something bad happens to them because you told them so? It might not work for you but it might for another. I’m NOT giving some “boring, stupid” lecture. I’m just telling you what’s right…So, try to understand before leaving a long string of curses for me.

  • I wanna try the “Susie’s Dying” one when I grow up a little, but the problem is that there aren’t really any payphones where I live…The others seem too dangerous to try.

  • @Queen Of Dog Meme
