Thirst is a scary horror comic about a blood-thirsty vampire that is preying on the crew of a spaceship. It appeared in Chamber of Chills #2 (1973).
The year is 2180 A.D. and the starship Wolf is on its way to Proxima Centauri, the nearest star to Earth. There are 232 people on board. 32 are crew, tasked with keeping the ship fuctioning smoothly. 199 are asleep in cryogenic suspension and will not awaken until they reach their destination. The sole remaining passenger is a dangerous stowaway… a vampire with an insatiable thirst for blood.
Two of the crewmen come across the dead body of their colleague. His skin is pale and there are two marks on his neck.
The body is taken to the sick bay where the ship’s doctor preforms an autopsy. He discovers that the body of the dead crewman has been completely drained of blood.
The captain orders his men to search the ship. One of the crewmen discovers an empty sleeping tube in the cryogenic suspension deck.
Something is killing the crew and the captain is powerless to stop it. The ship’s doctor searches through ancient books, looking for answers, as the crew are picked off one by one.
The killer is outside their door and their laser guns are usless against him. He has them cornered and it’s only a matter of time until he strikes.
In one of the ancient volumes, the doctor comes across what he is looking for. The thing stalking them is a vampire and The only thing that can stop it is a wooden stake.
However, the vampire has disposed of the wooden cane, jettisoning it out of an airlock into space.
