Tomino

Tomino

Tomino is a Japanese urban legend about a poem that kills anyone who recites it out loud.

Tomino

In this world there are things that you should never say out loud, and the Japanese poem “Tomino’s Hell” is one of them. According to the legend, if you read this poem out loud, disaster will strike. At best, you will feel very ill or injure yourself. At worst, you could die.

In this video you can hear Tomino being read in Japanese. You will notice that the person who made the video used text to speech software. They didn’t dare read it out loud themselves.

This is a rough English translation:

Tomino’s Hell

The older sister vomits blood, the younger sister spits fire.
Cute Tomino spits treasured jewels.
Tomino died alone and fell into hell.
Hell, darkness, with no flowers.
Is it Tomino’s older sister that whips?
The number of red welts is worrisome.
Whipping and beating and pounding,
The path to eternal hell is only one way.
Beg for guidance into the darkness of hell,
From the golden sheep, from the nightingale.
How much is left in the leather bag,
Prepare for the endless journey into hell.
Spring comes and into the woods and valleys,
Seven turns in the dark valley of hell.
In the cage is a nightingale, in the cart a sheep,
In the eyes of cute Tomino are tears.
Cry, nightingale, for the woods and the rain
Voicing your love for your sister.
The echo of your cry howls through hell,
and a blood-red flower blooms.
Through the seven mountains and valleys of hell,
Cute Tomino travels alone.
To welcome you to hell,
The glimmering spikes of the needled mountain
Stick fresh punctures in the flesh,
As a sign to cute Tomino.

I have no idea whether or not it is safe to read the English translation out loud. If I were you, I would err on the side of caution.

One person said: “I once read Tomino’s Hell on the air for an online radio show called Radio Urban Legends. At first everything was normal, but gradually my body, it became difficult to read. I read half of it and then broke down and threw it away. Two days later I got injured and I was left with seven stitches. I do not want to think that this was because of the poem.”

  • I read it out loud in original version, english and even my language but nothing happened when I read it or couple days later. I am still waiting for something to happen. I have to say I am a little disappointed :(

  • HEY GUYS GUESS WHAT!? I READ it! And will keep reading everyday until bad stuff happens! I want to make sure it’s not true! LORD BE WITH ME!🙏🏽

  • My name goes well with this comment 😂 But I have a feeling i’m the only one that was too scared to read this thinking I would read it out loud in my sleep 😂

  • I don’t know what to say about the myth, but there is one thing I’m damn sure of: this poem is really dark and gloomy. A really great literary piece. But it just doesn’t feels right after reading this…..

And, if this legend has or had a bit of truth, I’m pretty sure even god won’t save anyone from dying. After all, when things go wrong with spooky stuffs like Ouija board or summoning, does the *dear* god protect anyone? Heh, never.

Anyway, Japanese folks are really lucky to have such great legends. If this was written, then they’re real poets (at least it is much more interesting than Shakespeare). Poem’s really awesome and spooky. If I’d found it in the ruins somewhere, after reading I would’ve blindly thought of it being cursed.

    Great Tomino.

  • i used to read this loud.. Nw like 3 time aand trust me this fupping poem really works….! :'( I’m so regretting….. Its not like i got accident or near to death experience….!! But its really makes my life unlucky… I really fupped up help me,..!! Need some lucky charm..! :(

  • I turned on the video, but there was something wrong with the pic, so I didn’t see it. but the VOICE!!! the voice was the creepiest thing I have ever heard! -*shudders* I can be so brave sometimes but I an be really chicken too… I didn’t have the guts to read it aloud

  • I think I’ll pass on this one. (trying to read all the Japanese Urban Legends)

  • To scared to read it but what’s with the Japanese and their deadly poems and dead people coming to eat your face off if you read this story anyway god bless the people who did read it out loud and also to the people who didn’t maybe they are afraid of getting hurt like me and others like the thrill of anticipation to see if anything will happen but we are all different people. God bless!!! 😇

  • You guys know what??
I really love the poem, it’s cool and awesome…
And yeah, I know this is just an urban legend, even though it’s kinda creepy…

I never read out loud any poem or text at the internet though,
    coz it’s a habit…
And I’m curious for what happened to people who read out
loud the poem if I put it on my game and send it to youtube let’s players
(people who record themself playing a game and upload it on youtube)…
But I AM positive that nothing unnecessary would happen, coz why not? The GOD Himself protecting His children after all…

Even though the sound of the video IS disturbing, haha….

Well, what I can say is…
People whom got some accident after reading it out loud might just a coincidence, and to people who believe that they might die because of it, I THINK they just don’t believe in GOD that He protect every living in this world… ( sorry if I offend you)

Although I almost never pray nor being happy to go to church though, but I believe, even if I don’t ask Him anything, He will give me the best as the way He plan for me…
And I always happy just to think that, coz GOD is just amazing!!

So yeah, nothing scary will happen though.. (I’m sorry for a long comment…)

  • dude naz the ghost hunter just proved how messed up this story is. good thing i skipped all of it

  • I didnt manage to play the video cause the girl creeps me out…
Maybe I need some accompaniment to gain the courage to watch it…
And before I finished reading the translation, my body shriveled and felt cold even if its a very hot summer here…
